The Caprera Open 2025 has once again proved to be one of the most authentic and popular events of the season at the Centro Velico Caprera. A weekend dedicated to all those whose commitment makes the School a unique institution in the Italian sailing training scene.
This year's edition attracted 130 registered participants, as well as 17 collaborators and 20 participants in the Instructor Training course, who contributed with their usual enthusiasm to the organization and participated in the sea trials. Many activities were offered, from a course on splicing and seamanship to a workshop with a Harken technician for a full immersion in the maintenance of winches and other equipment.
Thetraditional Caprera Open regattawas also held, with 16 boats competing in the waters of Porto Palma. As usual, one of the most popular moments was the opportunity to sail on boats that have made CVC history, such as the legendary Mousquetaire and Mentor.
An edition enhanced by the presence of the crew of the Sir Baden Powell, the boat that made headlines for being the first to come to the aid of the Bayesian during last year's shipwreck. Its participation represented a powerful symbol of solidarity and remembrance, values deeply rooted in the culture of the Center.
But the Open Day is also a time to pause and remember those who are no longer with us and who have contributed to the growth of the school over the years. "It's not just a party," explains Paolo Bordogna, President of the Centro Velico Caprera Foundation, "but a collective moment that strengthens the bonds of a community that thrives on passion, respect for the sea, and a spirit of service. It is a tradition that renews our awareness of being part of something bigger every year: a school that, for over fifty years, has continued to train sailors and people, combining technique, values, and love for the sea."
