Caprera
History,
origins and roots
The Centro Velico Caprera was founded in 1967 from a dream, rather than an idea, of Vittorio di Sambuy, Marco Notarbartolo di Sciara, and Guido Colnaghi: to create a sailing school based on the values and traditions of Italian seafaring. It was realized thanks to the Italian Touring Club and the Milan Naval League.
A future made of people
With over 2,000 volunteers, the CVC has become Italy's largest sailing institution and a true international benchmark.
It is thanks to the generations of Caprerini who have followed one another over more than 50 years that tradition and innovation have been able to come together under the school's founding values.
Protecting the sea and the land
Respect for the sea and the surrounding environment have been guiding principles for CVC since the very beginning.
Over the years, this focus has grown even stronger with the installation of solar thermal panels, the elimination of all single-use plastics, eco-friendly controls, and the commitment to the M.A.R.E. Project.
Mission
The Fondazione Centro Velico Caprera , with 150,000 students since 1967, is one of the most renowned sailing schools in the Mediterranean. It pursues objectives related to the protection of the marine environment and personal well-being through contact with the sea and the practice of sailing.
