It's been a while since this happened. Of course, last year's 50th anniversary celebrations were an exceptional occasion to get together, but Caprera Open was something different. Less official, perhaps, but more intimate and in some ways just as important. Three days dedicated to the instructors, sailing and shore assistants, and those who work at the base all season long: in short, to all those who, with their commitment and passion, have been making the magic of the CVC a reality for half a century.
In the words of Paolo Bordogna, President of the CVC but first and foremost a true Caprerino: "They were three wonderful days in which we took back 'our home'. We polished it up, starting from the beaches, we sailed, tried out the new boats like the RS800s and rediscovered those that have made the history of the School, like the never-forgotten Mentors - and what better summarises the spirit of the School, an eye for innovation and a heart that doesn't forget tradition and roots, its ability to speak to such different generations? -, we strengthened friendships, we paid tribute to those who are no longer with us and to those who made CVC great. We celebrated our workers who work at the Base, a beautiful word because it indicates who, in what they do, are masters; they are incredible people who look after the structures, the boats, and who have taught us much of what we know.
And we thanked those in the secretariat who look after us and the students, we celebrated Guido Colnaghi, with his great memories, and gave a prize to the oldest and youngest instructor. It was a party, a good party. Thanks to everyone for making it unique".
