Since 2011, it has brought together Europe's best sailing schools in a three-day regatta divided into Senior and Junior classes. Now the 2019 edition of the European Acadamies Cup will be held on Caprera: Centro Velico Caprera will host and organise the ninth edition of the event, which will be held in the waters off Porto Palma from 10 to 13 October and will involve 12 crews representing 7 sailing schools from as many European countries.
We are honoured to host this event," says Paolo Bordogna, President of the CVC,"and we are sure that the crews will appreciate the beauty of the island: racing in these waters is always exciting, even for those of us who have been sailing here for over 50 years. Apart from the sporting result, which is obviously important in any competition, the focus for us has always been on sharing our passion for sailing and the sea and not on competition as such.
Centro Velico Caprera heads into the event as the defender in the Senior class and fresh off a silver medal in the Junior class. The Esa Cup Trophy will be awarded to the crew with the best score at the end of the three-day event in the Senior category, while the school with the best score in the Senior and Junior categories will be awarded the Sea.ste.ma Trophy.
The boats that will be used are the J80s for the Senior class and the new Beneteau First 27s for the Junior class.
The participating schools, with a total of 12 crews divided between 7 Seniors and 5 Juniors, are:
Italy CVC Centro Velico Caprera
