The History,
: Origins and Roots
The Caprera Sailing Center was founded in 1967, born not so much from an idea as from a dream held by Vittorio di Sambuy, Marco Notarbartolo di Sciara, and Guido Colnaghi: to create a sailing school rooted in the values and traditions of Italian seafaring. It was made possible thanks to the Italian Touring Club and the Milan Naval League.
A Future Made Up of People
With over 2,000 volunteers, the CVC has become Italy’s largest sailing institution and a true international model.
It is thanks to the generations of Caprerini who have carried on the tradition over more than 50 years that tradition and innovation have been able to come together under the school’s founding values.
Protecting the Ocean and the Land
Respect for the sea and the surrounding environment have been guiding principles for the CVC from the very beginning.
Over the years, this commitment has grown even stronger with the installation of solar thermal systems, the elimination of all single-use plastics, eco-friendly initiatives, and the M.A.R.E. Project.
Mission
The Fondazione Centro Velico Caprera ETS, with 150,000 students since 1967, is one of the most renowned sailing schools in the Mediterranean. It pursues goals related to the protection of the marine environment and personal well-being through contact with the sea and the practice of sailing.

Today, after completing the CVC’s entire dinghy program, he has embarked on the Amerigo Vespucci training ship to …
