Four days to try out the boats purchased during this season full of important novelties. Four days to race and challenge each other among friends. Four days to take stock of what has happened in the season that has just ended, from the launch of the Sea.Ste.Ma environmental project to the Di Vela in Meglio oncology courses and the results of the Esa Cup. But above all, four days to thank the CVC staff and volunteers for all the love and dedication they put into what, once again, proves to be much more than just a sailing school.
The uniqueness of the Caprera model," explains Paolo Bordogna, president of CVC,"does not depend only on the unique location of the school, which is certainly a great advantage. The heritage, the history, the ability to cross generations while maintaining a sense of belonging and love for this institution, are the real magic that we see renewed here every year. And our staff and volunteers are the beating heart that radiates this passion to the new generations".
It is no coincidence that the training process for teaching at CVC starts with an internal recommendation: only the most promising students, both technically and in terms of human qualities, are put forward to become sailing assistants, the first step towards becoming an instructor.
Caprera Open is a 'young' event: it was born two years ago as a moment of aggregation and thanksgiving dedicated to staff and volunteers but also as a moment of celebration and closure of the season (which just last weekend saw the conclusion of the last courses). This year the event took place in light winds for the first two days, while a strong westerly made sailing conditions more interesting on Saturday and Sunday.
Among the many activities on offer was the chance to go out on all the boats used during the season, from the historic Mentors to lateen sails and the brand new foils and Beneteau First 27s, as well as other types of activity such as the ecological skipper who took up the slack in the various rounds of the Navigation & Environment course. We'll also be looking at some of the new boats that will be launched next year: these are very special boats and we're really curious to see how you'll react. But we're not telling you anything yet...
