What is
CVC ACADEMY?
It is a new educational and training path of the school with a sporting approach. It stems from the need to fully exploit and share with the students the experiences gained through the support of great international sailing champions such as Roberto Ferrarese, Ganga Bruni, Max Sirena, and Giulia Conti, who have taken turns on the Island during the last 5 years. This path also allowed an enhancement of the training of many of our volunteers and for the school to achieve prestigious national and international successes.
The
news
The CVC Academy
is developed on three course levels:
AC1, AC2 and Master Stage.
All three levels will have an instructional approach based on competitive coaching aimed at maximizing the all-around results of crews. Lots of field practice and maneuvering, but with a focus on elegance and effectiveness of athletic gestures, psychological resilience during sports performance, classroom analysis of videos and data collected by instructors/coaches during the training day, and crew management in stressful situations.
1Who are the Academy instructors/coaches?
As with all the school's courses, they will be run by our specialized and properly trained instructors for this new activity. The training will be optimized by coaches and professionals of international caliber, who will also take turns from time to time in the AC1, AC2 and Master Stage courses to serve the students.
2
Who can participate?
The CVC Academy is intended for all CVC students with the requirements to be eligible (D3-C3 with good evaluations). In addition, precisely because of its sporting nature, the Academy can also be attended by non-"goatherds" who apply through direct admission(AC1 only) and subsequent evaluation by the technical committee. Already trained crews who have taken part or will take part in National Championships in monotype (J70, RS21, Melges 24, Este24, UFO 22, H22) are also invited to participate at subsidized conditions, who wish to use the Academy as crew training for their respective seasons.
3
What boats are used?
In relation to the purpose of the course, the Academy uses strictly one-design (J80) boats prepared with racing materials (sails, sheets, rigging, etc.etc.) and used exclusively for the AC1 AC2 and Master Stage courses.
4
How will the water activity be managed?
The water activity will take place under the best possible conditions to achieve the day's objective. The teaching includes an initial phase of role rotation to understand the specificities of each, until a single role is identified and optimized. The Academy has no time constraints during the water activity, like an advanced cabin course.
5
How will the classroom activity be managed?
One of the aims of the course is to train individual crew members who are complete in every respect. The classroom approach is not general theoretical but thanks to video support, photos and onboard instruments the analysis will be specific on the activity performed.
Why it is important to join the CVC Academy?
Academy activities are strongly complementary and functional to the goal of the school as a whole: to train good sailors. The sporting approach, especially when supported by maritime knowledge , becomes an additional building block in the sailing training of each student. Just think of the great ocean sailors and racers , who combine deep seafaring knowledge with maximum sporting performance. The Academy enables each pupil to gain maximum awareness of what can be done on a boat.
